Phones on several computers
With one computer you need no gateway. When phones are plugged into other computers too, those computers can join your fleet as gateways: their phones appear on your Fleet page with their names, health and history. Gateways are part of the Team plan.
Add a gateway
- On the computer with your fleet (the Hub), open Gateways → Add a gateway, name it and create a one-time code.
- On the other computer, which has BenchFleet installed and the phones plugged in, run the command the page gives you, with the code.
- The gateway connects out to the Hub over an encrypted link, so it works behind a router and nothing is opened on that computer. From then on it proves who it is with its own key; the code cannot be used again.
How it works
- A phone belongs to one gateway at a time and keeps its identity, name and history if you move it to another.
- Workflows for a gateway's phones run on that computer, with the Hub's decisions on approvals and access. If the link drops, they finish there, and their results arrive when it is back.
- If a gateway goes offline, its phones show as disconnected until it reconnects.
In this release, live video and taking control of a gateway's phone happen on that phone's own computer; recordings and broadcasts need it too.
