Cloud phone versions and sizes
When you start a cloud phone, choose its Android version and screen size, and whether it has root access. Every choice costs the same: £0.02 a minute.
Android versions
Each version is one build from the Android Open Source Project, the same on every phone server. A phone's Info tab shows its version, build and security patch level. The older versions' phones cannot take everything Simulate offers: the table says which take a simulated location and a test SMS, and the Simulate tab shows only what that phone takes.
| Android | API level | Build | Security patch | Simulated location | Test SMS | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Android 17 | 37 | CP2A.260605.016 | 2026-06-05 | Yes | No | The newest: what a phone runs unless you choose another |

Screen sizes
Every version runs at each of these sizes. They are sizes, not models: apps show their phone, tablet or foldable layouts by the screen's width.
| Screen | Pixels | Density | Width for apps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phone | 720 × 1344 | 280 dpi | 411 dp |
| Small phone | 720 × 1280 | 320 dpi | 360 dp |
| Large phone | 1080 × 2340 | 400 dpi | 432 dp |
| Tablet-sized | 1920 × 1200 | 240 dpi | 1280 dp |
| Foldable-sized | 1768 × 2208 | 374 dpi | 756 dp |
Root access
Off unless you switch it on when you start the phone. With root on, the phone's shell (the Shell tab in your browser and the app's terminal) runs as root, in that phone only. With it off the shell runs as the usual shell user; these are Android test builds, so a determined user can still reach root inside their own phone. Either way the phone is yours alone and is deleted when it stops.
Not included
- Google Play and Google's apps: Google licenses them only to phone makers. Install your own apps (APK files).
- Real brand-name models: the phones are virtual and say so; the sizes above are sizes, not models.
- Apps that run only on ARM processors: the phones run x86-64 Android.
- Android 10 and older: Android 11 is the oldest version our phone servers start.
- Current security fixes on older versions: Android 11 to 16 keep the patch levels shown above. Use them to test how your app behaves on older Android, not for anything that needs a patched phone.
