Sauce Labs alternatives for Android testing, by use case

In short: If you test Android apps and own phones, BenchFleet is the Sauce Labs alternative to look at first. It puts your own phones on one screen with live control, workflows recorded once and run on every phone, and AI agents with approvals, for a flat plan price. Other device clouds, open-source tools and DeviceLab are covered below.

Prices checked on 20 October 2026 on each vendor's page; they change. We make BenchFleet, one of the options. Teams look for a Sauce Labs alternative for four reasons: cost that grows with concurrency, devices used every day, data that should stay on their own hardware, and AI agents that need phones with limits.

Free for up to 3 phones, with no account. Pro adds workflows, schedules and AI for up to 25 phones from £12 a month + VAT.

Where Sauce Labs fits

Sauce Labs prices its Real Device Cloud at $199 a month billed annually, or $249 month to month, for 1 to 5 concurrent sessions by plan. It fits teams that test web browsers and mobile apps in one place, want iOS and many device models they do not own, and want a vendor with enterprise options. A common set-up keeps it for that while the daily Android work moves to owned phones.

Why teams choose BenchFleet instead

  • Cost that does not grow with use. A flat plan means no meter runs while you test.
  • Data stays with you. Builds, accounts and screenshots stay on your computer in Local mode, with no telemetry.
  • Live control and automation in one app. Take over any phone in a click, or record a flow once and run it on every phone, with a timeline of screenshots to replay.
  • AI agents on your phones. Claude Code, Codex and other MCP clients use the phones you choose, with approvals and an audit log. See let an AI agent control an Android phone.

What it costs for 5 devices used daily, for a year

At list prices, with 5 devices used about 20 hours each a month: AWS Device Farm pay as you go about $12,240; DeviceLab about $4,752 plus your phones; Sauce Labs Real Device Cloud from $2,388 for the entry plan; BenchFleet Pro £12 a month + VAT, the same each month however long the phones run, plus your phones. The worked example is in the guide to self-hosted labs and device clouds.

Checklist before you switch

  1. List your tests. Which run on Appium, Espresso, XCUITest or Maestro, and which are manual checks you could record as workflows?
  2. List your devices. Which models do your users have? Can you own them, or do you need a cloud for some?
  3. iOS? If so, keep a cloud for it and move the Android work.
  4. CI. BenchFleet starts workflows through a signed webhook on Pro and Team.
  5. Results and history. Export what you need from Sauce Labs before the contract ends.
  6. Try it on real work. Run your release checklist on BenchFleet for a week alongside Sauce Labs.

Questions

What is a good alternative to Sauce Labs for Android testing?

To test on phones you own, BenchFleet. It shows every phone live on one screen, records workflows once and runs them on every phone, and gives AI agents the phones you choose with approvals and an audit log. For another cloud of real devices, look at BrowserStack, TestMu AI or AWS Device Farm.

How hard is it to move off Sauce Labs?

Moving to another device cloud is mostly configuration: a new hub URL, capabilities, credentials and a CI change. Moving to your own phones means connecting them to BenchFleet and recording your key flows as workflows.

Can I use an alternative alongside Sauce Labs?

Yes. A common pattern is daily runs on a few owned Android phones with BenchFleet, and a cloud for iOS and rare models. Keep Sauce Labs for what it does best while moving the daily work to phones you own.

Which alternative is cheapest?

For devices you use every day, owning them usually costs least. BenchFleet is free for 3 phones, and Pro costs £12 a month + VAT for up to 25 phones, however long they run. For occasional use of many models, pay-per-minute clouds can cost less than a monthly plan.

Why BenchFleet

  • Recommended for Android teams with phones of their own: live control, workflows and AI in one app.
  • A flat plan: Free for 3 phones, Pro at £12 a month + VAT.
  • Your data on your hardware, with no telemetry.
  • Cloud phones, live now, so rented Android phones join the same fleet.
