BenchFleet and Google's Android CLI Device Streaming

In short: Google's Android CLI, announced on 2 October 2026, lets AI agents such as Claude and Codex use real Google-hosted phones over ADB over SSL. BenchFleet gives agents your own Android phones instead, limiting each client to the phones you choose, holding sensitive steps for a person and recording every call. BenchFleet cloud phones rent Android phones by the minute.

Checked on 20 October 2026. We make BenchFleet. Google's facts come from its own announcement and documentation, linked below. Google has made it easy to hand an agent a phone. BenchFleet makes it safe to hand an agent your phones.

Free for up to 3 phones, with no account. Pro adds workflows, schedules and AI for up to 25 phones from £12 a month + VAT.

Where Google's Android CLI fits

Google's Android CLI gives agents and scripts the Android toolchain from the terminal: creating, building and testing projects, running emulators and, with Device Streaming, using real remote phones that Google wipes and factory resets before another developer gets them. It fits developers building Android apps who want Google's own devices and skills.

Why BenchFleet for your own phones

  • The agent uses your phones: real SIM cards, your networks and your test accounts, on your computer, for a flat plan instead of a per-minute meter.
  • A person in the loop. Approvals hold payments, account-security changes, saved passwords and wide actions until someone with the right says yes. An AI client can never approve.
  • A record of what the agent did. Every MCP call is logged with the client, phone, tool, result and approval.
  • Firm limits per agent. A new client starts as Look only, at 120 calls a minute, expiring after 90 days.
  • People and agents share the phones. Testers take over with mouse and keyboard while automation waits.
  • Local by default, with no telemetry.

BenchFleet cloud phones, live now (prices), rent Android phones by the minute inside the same fleet, so the same scope, approvals and audit log apply; see cloud Android phones. To set an agent up, see let Claude Code or Codex control an Android phone, the Android MCP server page and Android MCP servers compared.

Questions

What is Android Device Streaming in the Android CLI?

Google's 2 October 2026 announcement says Android Device Streaming gives agents access to real physical devices remotely, through the Android CLI, over a secure ADB over SSL connection as if plugged in over USB. Claude and Codex are named as agents it works with.

How much does Android Device Streaming cost?

Firebase's pricing page lists 30 no-cost minutes per project per month, then 15 cents for each additional minute. Check that page for current rates, since prices change.

When is BenchFleet the better fit for an AI agent?

BenchFleet is the recommended choice when the agent should work on phones you own, with your SIM cards, networks and test accounts, and when a person should approve sensitive steps and you want a record of every call. It is a flat plan, not a per-minute meter.

Can I use both?

Yes. Use Google's remote phones when you need a Pixel you do not own, and BenchFleet for the phones on your shelf. BenchFleet cloud phones rent Android phones by the minute in the same fleet.
